Bubble-Textured Glass Candle Urns

A bubble-textured urn is covered in rows of raised, rounded bubbles molded into the glass, a pattern often called hobnail. Each bubble acts as a small lens, so a lit candle inside scatters into countless points of light and the vessel looks rich and handcrafted even when unlit.

The urn silhouette, with a full rounded body that narrows toward the mouth, gives the candle a sculptural presence beyond a plain tumbler.

Larger sizes make good statement candles for living rooms and hospitality spaces, and once the candle is finished, the urn is commonly reused as a vase or display vessel. The texture is molded into the outer surface, while the inside stays smooth for clean wax release. The body swells out from a solid base and curves back to a wide mouth sized for wick setting and pouring. Tinted, smoked or frosted glass softens the sparkle for a vintage look, and glass or wood lids can be matched to the mouth.

Pour wax warm into urns held at room temperature to avoid thermal shock. Because the body is wider than the mouth, a single wick may tunnel in larger sizes; we suggest testing a double wick or a wider wick series for the biggest urns. Keep the wax line below the narrowing of the shoulder and burn-test the finished candle in the final vessel.

Urns are press-and-blow formed in a patterned mold and annealed, with extra attention to annealing because the textured wall varies in thickness. We check wall soundness, base stability and a clean rim. Tinting, frosting and foil are available, and bubble size or pattern spacing can be adjusted on new tooling.
