Child-Resistant Pill Jars

Solid-dose medicines and supplements need a package that keeps out moisture and odors and, when stored at home, a closure that young children cannot easily open. A glass jar provides an excellent barrier and an inert surface that will not interact with the contents, and a push-and-turn child-resistant cap supplies the safety closure.

Amber glass is the common choice for light-sensitive actives, while an induction seal or desiccant liner keeps moisture-sensitive products such as probiotics and effervescent tablets stable.

These jars carry tablets and capsules, dietary supplements, vitamins and minerals, prescription solid dose, nutraceuticals and probiotics. Pharmacies use them for dispensing, and clinical-trial packagers use the smaller sizes for blinded supplies. Any product kept where children may be present benefits from the child-resistant closure. Sizes from 30 to 100 ml suit typical tablet counts; 150 to 500 ml covers larger supplement packs, gummies and bulk pharmacy stock.

The jar has a wide 38, 45 or 53 mm mouth for easy filling and access, a straight body for labeling and a stable base. Amber protects light-sensitive actives, flint shows the product, and opal white gives a clean, apothecary look. The finish is dimensioned for push-and-turn child-resistant caps, which can carry wadded, foam or induction-seal liners, and a desiccant cap or canister can be added for moisture-sensitive products.

Child-resistant performance belongs to the jar and cap together, so we supply them as a matched pair and recommend controlled application torque on your capping line. Child-resistant designs tested to ISO 8317 are available; ask us for the certificate for your chosen jar-and-cap combination. An induction seal adds tamper evidence and a moisture barrier, and a desiccant keeps the interior dry for probiotics, effervescents and other moisture-sensitive products.

We press-and-blow mold the jars from pharmaceutical glass, with amber and opal produced through batch chemistry, then anneal and inspect them. Finish dimensions are held closely so the child-resistant cap engages correctly every time. Certificates of analysis and compliance documentation are available on request. We can screen print the jars or supply them plain for labeling, and we pack caps, liners and desiccants with the jars in partition cartons.
