The Dorica is the standard round oil bottle in the Italian glass tradition and sits alongside the square Marasca as one of the two reference shapes for retail oil. The round body reads softer and more contemporary, and it is the easiest oil format to dress with a full-wrap label.
Its long neck and balanced proportions make it comfortable to pour one-handed, which is why it is as common on restaurant tables as it is on supermarket shelves.
Extra-virgin and blended olive oils, seed and nut oils, wine and fruit vinegars, dressings and finishing oils all use the Dorica. The neck takes the same pourers, screw caps and bartop corks as the Marasca, so a brand can switch body shape without changing closures.
It is a popular private-label and gift-duo bottle precisely because it is neutral: the shape lets the label and the oil do the talking.
The Dorica is a simple cylinder with a rounded heel and a long, narrow neck. A round section distributes glass and stress evenly, so a Dorica can be made lighter than a square bottle of the same capacity while staying robust on the line.
Neck options mirror the Marasca — a 31.5 mm screw or pourer finish, or a cork mouth — and antique green glass is available where light protection for the oil is a priority.
Oil is filled cold, so the Dorica is undemanding on the line. Keep fill height consistent so pourers seat properly and the fill line sits neatly under a wrap label. As with any oil, limit headspace oxygen and advise upright, cool, dark storage.
Cork closures can wick a little oil over long storage; a screw cap or pourer is more secure for export and extended shelf life.
Blow-and-blow or narrow-neck press-and-blow forming produces the round body and well-defined neck. A round section is the most forgiving geometry for even wall thickness, which helps lightweighting. After annealing and coating, finishes are gauged for cork and pourer fit, and bodies are checked for roundness and verticality so wrap labels go on without wrinkles.
