Dorica Round Oil Bottles

The Dorica is the round-bodied cousin of the Marasca: a clean cylindrical oil bottle with a long neck, easy to wrap-label and to hold. It suits olive and seed oils, vinegars and dressings where a softer, more contemporary line is wanted over the square Marasca.

About the Dorica Round Oil Bottles

Background, typical uses, construction, filling guidance and production notes for buyers selecting this container for bulk supply or private-label programs.

Overview & background

Dorica is the standard round oil bottle in the Italian glass tradition, sitting alongside the square Marasca as the two reference shapes for retail oil. The round body reads softer and more modern, and is the easiest oil format to apply a full-wrap label to without panel constraints.

Its long neck and balanced proportions make it comfortable to pour one-handed, which is why it is common in both retail and table/HoReCa use.

Applications & industries

Extra-virgin and blended olive oils, seed and nut oils, wine and fruit vinegars, and dressings all use the Dorica. The neck accepts the same guala anti-refill pourers and cork bartops as the Marasca, so brands can switch body shape without re-tooling closures.

It is a popular private-label and gift-duo bottle precisely because it is neutral: the shape lets the label and oil do the talking.

Design & construction

A simple cylinder with a rounded heel and a long, narrow neck. Round bodies distribute glass and internal pressure evenly, so the Dorica can be made lighter than an equivalent square bottle while staying robust on the line.

Neck options mirror the Marasca — cork/bartop or 31.5 mm guala — and antique-green glass is offered where light protection for the oil is a priority.

Handling & best practice

Filled cold, the Dorica is undemanding, but keep headspace consistent so the pourer seats and the fill line aligns under the wrap label. As with all oil, limit headspace oxygen and advise upright, cool, dark storage.

If using a cork, allow for slight oil wicking over long storage; a screw or guala closure is more secure for export and long shelf life.

Manufacturing & quality

Blow-and-blow or NNPB forming gives the round body and well-defined neck. Round sections are the most forgiving geometry for even wall thickness, which helps lightweighting.

After annealing and surface coating, finish dimensions are gauged for cork/pourer compatibility, and the body is checked for roundness and verticality so wrap labels apply without wrinkles.

Build Options

Configure the Container, Closure and Packing Together

A packaging program is more than the glass. Closure, liner, fill process, label area and export carton should be confirmed together before the first sample or bulk order.

Capacity & Shape

Confirm brimful capacity, practical fill level, body proportions and label panel so the chosen size suits the product and the line.

Closure System

Match lug, CT, cork, pump or dispensing closures with the right liner for the fill temperature, viscosity and sealing method.

Glass & Finish

Clear or amber glass, sprayed color, frosting, embossing and decoration are checked against shelf presentation and light protection.

Export Packing

Carton partitions, pallet pattern, loading plan and shipping marks are planned for long-distance transport and warehouse handling.

Stock or Custom Build

Review available molds first, then evaluate color, decoration or a mold change if the project needs a differentiated retail look.

Sample Confirmation

Confirm capacity, closure fit, liner selection, label area and carton protection with samples before bulk production.

Export Preparation

Cartons, dividers, pallet loading and shipping marks are planned for distributors, warehouses and multi-country shipments.
