Flat Pocket Flasks

The hip flask, flat and gently curved to sit against the body, has been a spirits format for centuries. In glass, the flat pocket flask keeps that portable silhouette while offering two broad faces for labels and print.

Its slim depth makes it efficient to ship and display, and shoppers immediately read it as a spirit to take along, which is why the format works so well at the checkout and in travel retail.

We supply pocket flasks for whisky, vodka, gin and liqueurs in carry sizes, from 50 ml miniatures to the 375 ml half bottle. They are common in travel retail, hotel minibars and gift sets, and are a practical format for sampling and promotional programs. Value spirits brands use the 200 ml and 375 ml sizes as a lower price point alongside their full-size bottle.

Two flat, curved faces meet narrow sides. The broad panels are the main strength consideration, as flat glass flexes more than round, so wall thickness across the faces is controlled closely. An ROPP or CT finish gives a secure screw seal for a bottle that will be carried, and the flat faces take labels and screen print cleanly with no curvature distortion.

Spirits fill at ambient temperature; the priority is a leak-tight closure on a bottle designed to travel in a pocket or bag, so a clean finish and a correctly applied ROPP or screw cap matter. The flat panels are the most impact-sensitive area, so set line guides and case partitions to protect them.

Pocket flasks are formed by narrow-neck blow-and-blow, with the blank and blow molds defining the flat faces and curved profile. Even wall thickness across the panels is the forming target, followed by annealing, coating and finish gauging.
