The hip flask shape — flat and gently curved to sit against the body — has been a spirits format for centuries. In glass, the flat pocket flask keeps that portable silhouette while giving two broad faces for labeling. The small sizes are made for carrying, sampling and single servings.
Its slim depth also makes it efficient to ship and to display, and its shape is instantly read as 'spirits to take along'.
Whisky, vodka, gin and liqueurs in pocket sizes, plus miniatures and sample bottles for tasting and promotional programs. The format is common in travel retail, hotel minibars and gift sets, and for new-product sampling.
Two flat curved faces meet narrow sides; the broad panels are the main strength consideration, as flat glass flexes more than round. A ROPP or CT finish gives a secure, leak-resistant screw seal suited to a bottle that will be carried. Flat faces take labels and screen print cleanly.
Spirits are filled cold; the priority is a leak-tight closure for a bottle designed to be carried in a pocket or bag, so the ROPP or screw seal and a clean finish are important. The flat panels are the most impact-sensitive area, so line handling is set accordingly.
Formed by narrow-neck blow-and-blow; the flask blank and blow molds define the flat faces and curved profile. Even wall thickness across the broad panels is the forming target. Annealed, coated and finish-gauged for the screw or ROPP closure.
