Overview & background
The GL45 media bottle — popularised by Schott Duran and widely copied — is the standard storage bottle of the modern laboratory. 'GL45' refers to its 45 mm GL-standard thread, which interchanges with caps and connectors from many suppliers. Made of borosilicate 3.3 glass, it tolerates heat, thermal shock and most chemicals.
Its blue PP cap and a separate PP pouring ring are designed for drip-free pouring, and the whole bottle is built to be autoclaved repeatedly for sterile work.
