Overview & background
A weighing scoop holds a measured amount of a powder or granular solid while it is weighed and then helps pour it cleanly into a flask or bottle. Making the scoop from glass, with a funnelled tip, solves problems that plastic scoops can cause: glass is chemically inert, it can be cleaned and dried in an oven, and it does not build up the static charge that makes fine powders cling and scatter.
The funnel tip channels the solid into a narrow neck without spilling, which matters when transferring expensive, reactive or hazardous powders accurately.
