The hurricane gets its name from its job: a glass surround that shields a candle flame from drafts so it stays lit. This lantern-shaped version has a full, curved body, a gently narrowed waist and a flared rim on a broad foot, letting a pillar candle burn steadily while the glass glows around it.
It is a holder and a shelter rather than a wax vessel, valued for reliable, elegant candlelight indoors and on covered patios.
We supply hurricane holders to homeware and giftware brands, wedding and event decorators, restaurants and hotels, and candle brands that sell pillars with matching holders. They are a standard choice for dining centerpieces, aisle and entrance styling, covered patios and seasonal displays filled with pinecones, sand or greenery. Many buyers also use them with LED candles for venues that restrict open flames.
The blown body sits on a broad, solid foot that keeps the holder stable. The interior is sized to hold a pillar candle with clearance around the flame, and the open, flared top lets heat and smoke escape while the walls block drafts. Clear glass shows the flame best; cut, etched, tinted, smoked or frosted finishes suit different settings. Matched pairs in two heights create layered displays.
Place a pillar candle in the center with room around the flame, and stand the holder on a stable, heat-safe surface. The upper glass warms with long burns, so let it cool before handling. Outdoors, use the holder in a sheltered spot on firm, level footing. Never leave lit candles unattended, and keep decorative fillers well away from the flame.
Holders are blown and annealed, with checks on foot stability, wall evenness over the height and a smooth, even rim. Tall forms are boxed individually with protective inserts. We can supply custom heights and diameters for your pillar sizes, plus cutting, etching, tints and frosting.
