GPS-CAP-9501 / Closures & Accessories

Metered Dose Dispensing Valves

Precision aerosol-type valves that release an exact, repeatable dose with each actuation, used for inhalers, sprays and dispensers where dosing accuracy is critical. The metering chamber delivers the same measured volume every time, the basis of metered-dose inhalers and accurately dosed sprays.

Product Knowledge

About the Metered Dose Dispensing Valves

Background, typical uses, construction, filling guidance and production notes for buyers selecting this container for bulk supply or private-label programs.

Overview & background

A metered-dose valve is engineered to release exactly the same amount of product every time it is actuated, regardless of how hard or long it is pressed. A small metering chamber inside the valve fills with a fixed volume between actuations and discharges just that volume when triggered — so a metered-dose inhaler delivers a precise drug dose, and a metered spray dispenses a consistent shot.

This dose accuracy is what separates a metered valve from an ordinary continuous spray, and it is critical wherever the amount delivered matters — above all in pharmaceutical inhalation and nasal/oral drug delivery.

Applications & industries

Metered-dose inhalers (MDIs), nasal and oral metered sprays, pharmaceutical aerosols, precise topical sprays, breath fresheners, technical and dosing aerosols, and veterinary metered sprays — anywhere a calibrated, repeatable dose is required.

Design & construction

A valve body with a defined metering chamber, elastomer seals and a stem, crimped via a ferrule to a standard aerosol can or metered vial neck and topped by an actuator. The chamber volume sets the dose (commonly tens of microlitres for inhalers). Pharma-grade valves use controlled, low-extractable materials for drug contact and inhalation.

Handling & best practice

Metered valves are part of a validated system with the container, propellant/formulation and actuator; dose accuracy, spray pattern and through-life consistency are characterized, and priming and shaking instructions are part of the directions. Seal and elastomer compatibility with the propellant and drug are confirmed, and pharmaceutical valves meet the relevant regulatory and material requirements.

Manufacturing & quality

Metered valves are precision-assembled from molded and machined parts plus elastomer seals and a metering chamber, then function-tested for dose accuracy and seal integrity. Chamber volume consistency, leak-tightness and (for pharma) material compliance are the critical controls; the valve is matched to the container, propellant and actuator.

Build Options

Configure the Container, Closure and Packing Together

A packaging program is more than the glass. Closure, liner, fill process, label area and export carton should be confirmed together before the first sample or bulk order.

Capacity & Shape

Confirm brimful capacity, practical fill level, body proportions and label panel so the chosen size suits the product and the line.

Closure System

Match lug, CT, cork, pump or dispensing closures with the right liner for the fill temperature, viscosity and sealing method.

Glass & Finish

Clear or amber glass, sprayed color, frosting, embossing and decoration are checked against shelf presentation and light protection.

Export Packing

Carton partitions, pallet pattern, loading plan and shipping marks are planned for long-distance transport and warehouse handling.

Stock or Custom Build

Review available molds first, then evaluate color, decoration or a mold change if the project needs a differentiated retail look.

Sample Confirmation

Confirm capacity, closure fit, liner selection, label area and carton protection with samples before bulk production.

Export Preparation

Cartons, dividers, pallet loading and shipping marks are planned for distributors, warehouses and multi-country shipments.
