Whole peppercorns and salt taste best ground fresh, so the disposable-and-refillable glass grinder turned the spice bottle into a mill. The clear glass body is part of the pitch: you can see the peppercorns, judge how much is left, and the bottle looks good enough to stay on the table.
The category splits into one-trip 'grind and bin' grinders and premium refillable mills, but both use the same idea of a grinder mechanism threaded onto a glass body.

The glass body has a wide CT neck matched to the grinder cap, which carries a ceramic or stainless burr mechanism with an adjustable grind. Ceramic burrs are preferred for salt because they do not corrode. The clear body shows fill level and grind size.
Neck thread and bore must match the specific grinder supplier's mechanism, so closure and bottle are specified together.
Contents are dry, so the priorities are keeping moisture out (damp peppercorns or salt clog and corrode mechanisms) and a clean thread match so the grinder seats without leaking. Salt in particular must stay dry; a tight cap and dry filling environment matter.
For refillable mills, advise customers not to wash the glass with the grinder attached and to keep the mechanism dry to preserve the burr.
The glass body is press-and-blow formed with a wide neck finished to the grinder thread. The grinder mechanism — ceramic or steel burr in a plastic or metal cap — is a separate engineered component fitted at packing.
Thread-finish accuracy is the key QC point so the grinder cap runs down and seals, alongside the usual clarity and rim checks.
