Overview & background
Eye and ear drops must be dispensed one accurate drop at a time, sterile, into a sensitive area, so their container is a precision dropper. The dropper or controlled-drop tip is engineered to release a consistent drop size and to resist contamination, while a glass vial provides the inert, stable container that delicate ophthalmic formulations need.
Glass is particularly valued for preservative-free eye drops and for sensitive actives, where it avoids the leaching and adsorption that can occur with some plastics over the product's shelf life.
