Ribbed & Embossed Candle Cups

A candle is as much about the light it casts as the scent it throws, and ribbed or embossed glass turns that light into a feature. The relief refracts and scatters the flame, casting moving patterns onto nearby surfaces and giving the lit candle a richer, more atmospheric glow.

Because the decoration is molded into the glass, it costs nothing per unit after tooling, survives the life of the vessel and doubles as a grip — a practical way to make an inexpensive cup look special.

Votive and tealight candles, small container candles, decorative and mood lighting, spa and relaxation candles, and wedding, event and seasonal candles. The cups are frequently kept and reused as small holders.

A small cup with molded ribs or embossed relief and an open mouth for a poured or tealight candle. The relief slightly varies wall thickness, so tooling keeps the wall sound where the pattern is deepest. Flint shows the light play best; frosting and spraying add color or diffusion.

Pour wax warm into a room-temperature cup. As a small vessel, wicking is chosen so the flame and surface temperature stay safe and the melt pool does not overheat the thin patterned wall. Advise users to burn on a heat-safe surface and trim wicks, as with any small candle.

Press-and-blow formed with a patterned mold that creates the ribs or emboss, then annealed for burn safety. Frosting or spraying is applied after forming. Wall thickness through the relief and base stability are the QC focus.
