Molding a rib or facet pattern straight into the glass is a cost-effective way to make a beverage bottle distinctive: the relief plays with light, adds grip and signals a premium product, all without printing or applied decoration. 'Origami' faceting takes the idea further with angular, folded-looking panels.
Because the texture is in the glass itself, it survives the whole life of the bottle and reinforces brand identity from across the aisle.
Premium soft drinks, sparkling juices, ready-to-drink cocktails, flavoured and sparkling waters, tonics, mixers, energy drinks and craft sodas. The decorative bottle is also popular for gift and limited-edition runs.
A range of finishes can be specified — crown, CT, ROPP or swing-top — to match still or carbonated products. The rib or facet pattern slightly varies wall thickness, so tooling is designed to keep the wall sound where the relief is deepest. Frosting or tinting can be added for further effect.
Match the closure and glass to the product: carbonated drinks need a pressure-capable finish (crown, ROPP, swing-top) and counter-pressure filling, while still drinks can use a simple CT cap. Avoid hard glass-to-glass contact on the line, since raised relief takes impact on its high points.
Formed by blow-and-blow or NNPB with a patterned blow mold that creates the ribs or facets along with the body. Keeping wall thickness even through the relief is the main forming challenge. Annealed, coated and finish-gauged for the chosen closure.
