Overview & background
An ampoule is a small glass container that is sealed by melting its neck closed, so the contents are hermetically protected with no cap, liner or thread to leak or let air in. Borrowed from pharmaceutical practice, it has become a premium skincare format for unstable, high-potency actives that must stay pristine until use.
Because each ampoule is a single dose opened fresh, there is no in-use oxidation or contamination — which is the whole selling point for ingredients like vitamin C, retinol and freeze-dried actives that degrade once exposed to air.
