Overview & background
Square food jars are a relatively modern shelf-driven shape. Where round jars waste space between containers, square bodies sit shoulder to shoulder, so retailers and subscription brands get more facings per centimetre of shelf and more units per carton and pallet — a real cost factor in logistics-heavy categories.
The flat front face is the other reason brands choose them: it behaves like a small poster, taking a single large label or full-wrap sleeve cleanly without the curvature distortion you get on a round jar.
