GPS-LAB-5086 / Laboratory & Chemical

Standard Narrow Mouth Reagent Bottles

Narrow-mouth reagent bottles in borosilicate or soda-lime glass with a ground-glass or screw stopper, for storing and pouring liquid reagents, solvents and solutions. The narrow neck gives controlled pouring and a smaller evaporation and contamination area than a wide mouth.

Product Knowledge

About the Standard Narrow Mouth Reagent Bottles

Background, typical uses, construction, filling guidance and production notes for buyers selecting this container for bulk supply or private-label programs.

Overview & background

The narrow-mouth reagent bottle is the standard vessel for storing and dispensing laboratory liquids. The narrow neck gives a controlled, drip-limited pour and exposes less of the contents to air than a wide mouth, which reduces evaporation and contamination — important for solvents and solutions that must stay pure.

Like its wide-mouth sibling it uses a matched ground-glass stopper or a screw cap, and is offered in amber for light-sensitive liquids.

Applications & industries

Storing liquid reagents and solutions, solvents, compatible acids and bases, titrants and standards, and light-sensitive liquids (in amber). Used in stockrooms, dispensing, teaching labs and industrial QC.

Design & construction

A narrow-mouth body in borosilicate 3.3 or laboratory soda-lime, with a matched ground-glass stopper joint or a GL screw thread. Screw caps use chemically resistant PP with a PTFE or PE liner for solvent and acid resistance. Amber glass protects light-sensitive liquids.

Handling & best practice

Keep ground-glass stoppers with their own bottles, as joints are matched pairs; alkaline solutions in particular can seize a ground joint, so storage and any joint treatment are chosen with the chemical in mind. Use borosilicate and PTFE-lined caps for aggressive solvents and acids, and amber glass for light-sensitive liquids. These bottles store and pour but do not measure accurately.

Manufacturing & quality

Borosilicate bottles are formed from a low-expansion melt; the narrow mouth and ground joint are produced and precision-ground to fit the stopper, then annealed. Amber comes from batch chemistry. Joint fit, chemical-grade glass and stopper matching are the key checks.

Build Options

Configure the Container, Closure and Packing Together

A packaging program is more than the glass. Closure, liner, fill process, label area and export carton should be confirmed together before the first sample or bulk order.

Capacity & Shape

Confirm brimful capacity, practical fill level, body proportions and label panel so the chosen size suits the product and the line.

Closure System

Match lug, CT, cork, pump or dispensing closures with the right liner for the fill temperature, viscosity and sealing method.

Glass & Finish

Clear or amber glass, sprayed color, frosting, embossing and decoration are checked against shelf presentation and light protection.

Export Packing

Carton partitions, pallet pattern, loading plan and shipping marks are planned for long-distance transport and warehouse handling.

Applications

Where the Standard Narrow Mouth Reagent Bottles Fits

Share filling temperature, product acidity, viscosity and shelf-life target so we can check the container, closure liner and packing method before quotation.

Stock or Custom Build

Review available molds first, then evaluate color, decoration or a mold change if the project needs a differentiated retail look.

Sample Confirmation

Confirm capacity, closure fit, liner selection, label area and carton protection with samples before bulk production.

Export Preparation

Cartons, dividers, pallet loading and shipping marks are planned for distributors, warehouses and multi-country shipments.
