Before glass took over, many spirits, Dutch genever above all, were sold in stoneware crocks, and that look still signals tradition and craft. A ceramic-effect coating on a glass jug recreates the matte, tactile stoneware surface while keeping the precision, lighter weight and consistent supply of molded glass.
The coating also gives an opaque, premium ground for decoration, so screen print and hot stamping sit crisply on the matte surface.
We supply stone-look jugs for genever and gin, whisky and aged spirits, liqueurs and cream liqueurs, and for heritage and craft brands that want a stoneware identity. The format is popular for premium, gift and limited-edition lines and in duty-free. Because the coating is opaque, it also protects light-sensitive cream liqueurs from display lighting. Distilleries also sell the empty jug as a refillable souvenir.
A glass jug body is sprayed with a ceramic-effect coating and cured, producing a matte, opaque, slightly textured surface in stone gray, cream, black or a custom color. The coating is on the outside only; the product touches glass. Necks are finished for a bar-top cork or an ROPP or screw cap, and decoration is applied over the cured coating.
Spirits fill at ambient temperature and are inert in glass. The coated surface should be protected from scuffing on the line and in the case, so use partitions and avoid hard contact between jugs. Bar-top corks need a consistent bore to seat and reseal cleanly.

The jug is formed by blow-and-blow, annealed, and then coated and cured in a decorating lehr to build the matte stone surface. We check coating coverage and adhesion before decoration is added, and gauge every finish for the closure.
Custom coating colors, two-tone effects, embossed seals, and screen print or hot stamping over the coating are all available. We match coating colors to your reference before production.
