Straight-Sided Round Candle Jars

The straight-sided tumbler is the default container-candle jar: a round glass with vertical walls, an open top and a flat base. It is the format most candle makers start with, and almost every candle range includes a version of it.

Because the silhouette is so neutral, it works as a blank canvas. Brands differentiate through glass color, frosting, lids and labels rather than shape, which makes it easy to build a full range around one jar family.

We supply these jars to artisan and private-label candle makers, home-fragrance brands, spa and wellness lines, and seasonal gift programs. They suit container candles in soy, coconut, paraffin and blended waxes with cotton or wood wicks. Many end customers keep the empty jar as a storage or display vessel, so a clean, well-finished glass adds value well after the candle is gone.

Vertical walls let the wax shrink and release evenly, and the flat, slightly recessed base keeps the wick centered for an even melt pool. The mouth diameter is chosen to match your wax and wick so the melt pool reaches the wall without overheating it. Optional metal, wood or glass lids keep dust out and hold the fragrance between burns.

Wax is typically poured at 50–75 °C depending on the blend. Bring jars to room temperature first, since pouring hot wax into cold glass is the most common cause of thermal-shock cracking. Size the wick so the flame stays well clear of the rim and the outer wall stays at a comfortable temperature, and burn-test each wax, fragrance and wick combination in the final jar before launch.

Jars are press-and-blow formed and annealed in a lehr, which matters more for candle glass than for most containers: residual stress combined with burn heat can crack a poorly annealed vessel. We check base stability, rim finish and wall evenness, then apply frosting, spray color, printing or etched logos to your artwork.
