Overview
The swing-top closure is a small mechanical assembly: a wire bail hinges on lugs at the bottle neck and, when flipped down, levers a gasketed ceramic or plastic stopper firmly onto the bottle mouth. The result is a reusable, tool-free closure that can be opened and closed by hand again and again.
Because the seal depends on the gasket rather than a liner or crimp, the gasket is a replaceable part. Swap it when it wears and the bottle is ready for another cycle, which is a big part of the format’s appeal for refill and returnable programs.
Applications & Industries

Design & Construction
Each assembly combines a formed stainless-steel wire bail, a ceramic or plastic stopper and a rubber or silicone gasket, fitted to bottle necks with matching swing-top lugs. Bail geometry sets the clamping force and the gasket forms the seal. Wire comes bright or coated; stoppers come in white, black and colors, and ceramic stoppers can carry a printed brand mark.
Filling, Sealing & Use
A good seal needs a flat, clean bottle rim and a gasket seated evenly on the stopper. The bail should close with a firm, positive snap: too loose and it leaks, too tight and it stresses the glass and wire. For carbonated or fermenting drinks, bottle and closure must be rated together for the pressure you expect — ask us for pressure data on the combination you plan to use. Replace gaskets as they harden or crack.
Manufacturing & Customization
Bails are formed from stainless-steel wire and coated where specified; stoppers are molded in plastic or fired in ceramic and then printed; gaskets are molded in rubber or silicone. Bail clamping force, gasket fit and stopper dimensions are our key quality checks. We supply complete assemblies fitted to our swing-top bottles, loose assemblies, or spare kits of gaskets and stoppers, packed in cartons.
