Terrazzo, the speckled composite of stone chips set in a matrix, has become a major interiors trend, and home fragrance has followed. A terrazzo-effect finish on a glass candle cup brings that design-led texture to the candle, either as the visible vessel or as a liner holding the wax inside a concrete or ceramic outer.
A glass liner gives the wax a smooth, consistent surface and keeps the decorative outer reusable.
We supply terrazzo cups to designer candle and interior brands, trend-led home-fragrance lines, boutique and artisan makers, and gift programs. Brands working with concrete, ceramic or wooden outers use the cup as a refillable liner, so customers can buy replacement candles without a new outer vessel. Coordinated speckle colors make it easy to build a collection across scents and price points.
The cup is a straight cylinder with a solid base, coated on the outside with a speckled terrazzo effect over a white, cream or tinted base color and then cured. The coating does not touch the wax. When used as a liner, we size the outer diameter and height to drop cleanly into your outer vessel with suitable clearance. Plain uncoated liners are available for hidden use.
Pour wax warm into cups held at room temperature to avoid thermal shock. The terrazzo effect is an external coating, so protect it from scuffing on the line and in packing. When the cup sits inside an outer vessel, burn-test the complete candle in that outer, since the surrounding material changes how heat leaves the glass. Opaque cups hide the fill level, so fill by weight.
Cups are press-and-blow formed and annealed, then coated and cured in a decorating lehr. We check coating evenness and adhesion, base stability, rim quality and, for liners, fit dimensions against your outer. Speckle colors, density and base color can be customized to your palette. Send us your outer-vessel drawing or a color reference and we’ll prepare coated samples for fit and color checks.
