Dessert wines are sold in small, premium formats, and a molded spiral twist turns the slim half-bottle into something even more gift-worthy. The twist refracts the light passing through the golden wine and adds a tactile, crafted quality, all molded into the glass rather than applied.
It combines two cues — the precious small format of dessert wine and a decorative, designed bottle — to maximise shelf and gift appeal for a high-value product.
Ice wine, late-harvest and botrytised dessert wines, vin de paille and sweet sparkling wines, mostly in 200 ml and 375 ml formats. Flint glass is common so the deep golden color shows through the twist, and the bottle is frequently boxed as a gift.
A slim body carries a molded spiral twist and is finished for cork or screw cap. The twist slightly varies wall thickness, so tooling keeps the wall sound where the relief is deepest; labels are designed to sit between or over the twist as the look requires.
Filled cold with precise fill height in the small format. Sweet wines are light- and oxidation-sensitive, so closure quality matters and, with flint glass, shaded storage helps. Avoid hard glass-to-glass contact on the line, since the raised twist takes impact on its high points.
Formed by blow-and-blow or NNPB with a patterned blow mold that creates the spiral along with the body. Even wall thickness through the twist is the forming target. Annealed, coated and finish-gauged for the chosen closure.
