The handled mason mug is a crossover product: it takes the instantly recognizable mason jar — threaded mouth, rounded shoulder — and adds a glass handle so it becomes a drinking vessel. It grew out of the trend for serving cold drinks and cocktails in jars and turned that look into a proper mug.
Because it keeps the mason thread, it accepts the whole family of mason lids, including straw-hole lids, which is central to its grab-and-go appeal.
Iced coffee and tea, cocktails and mocktails, lemonade and soft drinks, smoothies, shakes and layered desserts. Cafés, bars and event caterers use it for service, and brands use it as refillable merchandise that carries a logo home with the customer.
That dual role as serving glass and souvenir is a big part of why venues choose it over plain glassware.
The body follows the mason jar with a 70 mm or 86 mm threaded mouth, and a molded glass handle is joined to the side. A straw-hole lid is the signature accessory, covering the drink while letting a reusable straw through.
The handle join is the critical stress point, so it is designed with a generous radius. Embossed measurement marks or logos on the body are common.
This is a drinking vessel, so the rim and handle must be smooth and comfortable, and it is intended for cold and room-temperature drinks. Soda-lime glass is not designed for boiling liquids or rapid temperature changes, so avoid pouring hot drinks into a chilled mug.
For venues, recommend dishwasher cycles without extreme hot-to-cold swings, and periodic checks of rims and handles, as with any reusable glassware.
The body is press-and-blow formed with the mason finish; the handle is formed and applied in a secondary operation, and the whole piece is annealed together so the join is stress-relieved. Inspection focuses on rim quality, handle-join integrity and thread fit for the lids.
