Pillar and free-standing candles drip and radiate heat, so they are usually stood on a plate that catches the wax and protects the surface beneath. A wide glass plate or tray does this while also acting as a decorative base — a clear, tinted or mirrored disc that frames the candle and reflects its light.
It is an accessory rather than a candle, but an important one for safe, tidy use of pillar and multi-wick candles on furniture and table linens.

A shallow pressed plate with a slightly raised rim to contain dripping wax and a stable flat base. Cut, tinted, smoked, mirrored or frosted finishes suit different settings; mirrored plates reflect the flame for extra sparkle. The plate is sized to the candles it will carry.
The plate carries candles with open flames and catches their wax, so it must stand on a heat-safe surface and the candle must be stable and centred. It is for use under candles, not for pouring wax into. Spilled wax is cleaned once cool. Plates stack for storage with interleaving to avoid scratches.
Pressed into a shallow plate form and annealed. Mirroring, tinting, cutting or frosting is applied as a finishing step. Flatness, base stability and rim quality are the key checks, along with the mirrored backing where used.
