Crackle Glass Candle Cups

Crackle glass carries a fine web of fissures that catches and fractures light, so a lit candle inside scatters into a glittering, mosaic-like glow. The effect gives a simple cylinder a rich, antique character and a lot of visual interest for a modest cost.

It is a popular choice wherever atmosphere matters, since the broken light reads as warm and festive in candlelit settings.

The cup is a straight cylinder with a solid base. The crackle is created by controlled thermal treatment during forming, which produces the fissured surface while the cup remains sound, and the inside stays smooth for wax or a tealight. Clear crackle gives the most sparkle; tinted glass or a metallic backing adds warmth or a gold or silver glow.

Use with a tealight or pour wax warm into cups held at room temperature. Size the wick so the flame and melt pool stay well within the cup, and burn-test the finished candle. The decorative fissures should be distinguished from accidental damage, so include clear reference samples in your incoming inspection. Burn on a heat-safe surface and never leave candles unattended.

Cups are formed, crackled and then annealed to relieve stress. We check crackle consistency against an agreed reference, base stability and rim quality. Amber and gray tints, gold or silver metallic backing and foil logos are available, and we can adjust the crackle density from fine to bold.
