A crackle finish fills the glass with a fine web of cracks that catches and fractures light, so a lit candle inside scatters into a glittering, mosaic-like glow. The effect gives an otherwise plain cup a rich, decorative, antique character — a lot of visual interest for little cost.
It is a popular choice wherever atmosphere matters: the broken light reads as warm and festive, which suits event, seasonal and gift candles.

A candle cup with a crackle effect — created within the glass or as a treated layer — over flint or tinted glass, sometimes with a metallic backing to amplify the sparkle. The open mouth is used with a tealight or poured wax. The crackle is decorative and does not contact the wax where it is an external or interlayer effect.
Used with a tealight or poured wax (warm, into a room-temperature cup). Correct wicking keeps the flame and surface within safe temperatures. Crackle-finished glass should be handled and packed to protect the decorative surface, and burned on a heat-safe surface as with any candle.
The crackle effect is produced during or after forming (for example by controlled thermal treatment or a treated interlayer), and the cup is annealed. Tinting or metallic backing is applied as required. The integrity of the finish, base stability and rim quality are checked.
